THE ULLOA FAMILY
FROM LIMA TO KEY BISCAYNE: MY JOURNEY
by Giulietta Ulloa
I was born in Lima, Peru, and in 1997, my husband—who is from Burgos, Spain—and I chose to make Key Biscayne, Florida, our home.
Moving here from such diverse backgrounds, we immediately felt a connection with this island, where people from all over the world come together to build their lives. Nearly 30 years later, we’re proud to call this vibrant community our own.
Raising our three children on Key Biscayne has been one of the greatest joys of our lives. This island is more than just a place to live—it’s a place where kids can run free at the Village Green, make lifelong friends through sports leagues and summer camps, and spend weekends fishing, boating, and exploring the natural beauty that surrounds us.
We watched our children grow up immersed in a community where cultures and traditions blend effortlessly, creating an environment where everyone belongs. Now we’re happy to have our two grandchildren visit us every summer, where we get to watch them explore the island through sailing, dancing, and other sports and activities. Though the years may have passed, our grandkids are as happy to explore Key Biscayne as our children were!
Working in real estate has been another wonderful part of this journey. I’ve been helping families find their homes on the island for nearly as long as I’ve lived here, and nothing compares to the feeling of welcoming someone to this special place.
Now, working side-by-side with my daughter, we get to share not just our passion for real estate, but our love for this community. Each new family that arrives brings a new story, and it’s a privilege to help them begin their chapter here. Getting to share this experience with my daughter feels like a full circle moment!
Key Biscayne is an island that’s full of life. Whether I’m dancing Flamenco, doing Zumba, or boating with my family, the sense of connection to the people and the place is always there. We’ve seen the island grow and evolve over the years, but its heart has stayed the same—a warm, welcoming place where people from all walks of life come together.
It really is special to have created so many amazing memories here over the last few decades, and it feels even more exciting to continue to create them as my family grows.
Living here has been a beautiful blend of the cultures and values we brought from Peru and Spain, enriched by the friendships and experiences we’ve gained on this island. Key Biscayne is our home, and there’s nowhere else we’d rather be.
